Stéphane Le Mercier
Stéphane Le Mercier belongs to the generation whose neo-conceptual approaches to art were asserted in the early 1990s - years during which he mainly lived abroad (Hungary, Ireland, Germany). These stays gave rise to a practice based on the economy of signs, its combinatory principles (textual ready made and abstract heritage, sculpture and typographic form).
He collaborates with the Iff gallery, directed by Kendra Johnson and Gavin Morrison, participates in the activities of the journal fondcommun (Marseille), and in those of the publishing houses Boabooks (Geneva) and Incertain Sens (Rennes). Stéphane Le Mercier teaches at the École Supérieure d'Art et Design in Saint-Etienne.
